MAI Location: Charlotte
Job Responsibility: Urban Eagles Neighborhood Leader- Grier Heights
From Woodstock, GA. Ben went to Lipscomb University where he studied History Teaching. He signed his first professional soccer contract with the Eagles the day after graduation in 2008 and has been playing for the Eagles ever since. Through the Eagles team and coaches Ben caught a vision for sports ministry and really came alive working with youth at camps in Charlotte and through some mission work in South America using soccer. After his second season, some of his teammates that had been praying together caught a heart for the city and felt the Lord leading them into a few different areas of the city to intentionally love people and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In 2009 they started the Urban Eagles by doing soccer clinics in these areas, and in 2010 Ben and some friends moved into Grier Heights to plant some roots. After nearly 4 years of ministry in that community the Urban Eagles are seeing a FAMILY of young people who are following Jesus and seeing the chains of generational poverty and addiction broken by the power of God. Ben serves as the Neighborhood Leader and a Coach for Urban Eagles in Grier Heights.
How & why did you become a MAI Missionary?
I became a MAI Missionary because I believe I heard the call of God. I believe, with all my hear, that God is rising up an army of lovers and worshipers in this next generation and I simply want to be a part of that! I feel a call to serve that generation as they step into the good plans and destinies that God has for them, for His Kingdom and His Glory!
