MAI Location: Charlotte, NC
Job Responsibility: Community Outreach; Training of Sports Ministers in Church-International Focus
My parents were missionaries in Bolivia and Chile. When I was 5 years old, I accepted the LORD. At the age of 15 I moved back to the States to continue my education. I attended and played soccer at Wheaton College receiving a BA in Spanish and a teaching certification. I taught and coached for 25 years in Chicago, Tanzania and St. Petersburg Florida. My wife, Robin, and I married in 1976. We have three children: Erin, Dawn and Matt. They are each married and GOD has blessed us with 6 grandchildren.
How & why did you become a MAI Missionary?
Growing up as missionary children, Robin and I were very familiar with mission life. Although both of our experiences were positive, we did not feel GOD's calling into full time missions until we were in our 40s. I took my high school soccer teams on missions trips 4 different summers. In 1997 after going to the Peruvian Amazon Basin; we answered GOD's call and joined Missionary Athletes International in 2000. GOD has been very faithful over and over again in supplying us our every need and with many opportunities to join Him in what He is doing in people's lives over these 13 years.
